The final turning point in my inquiry project was my first Editor’s Intro draft, and the peer review that we completed in class. When I finished my first draft, I was surprisingly content with what I had written. However, I have never been a fan of peer review, so I was still nervous. In my experience, it’s either been unhelpful or hurtful. But during our last peer review session, I actually received very good comments and feedback. One particular comment stuck out to me, which was something along the lines of, “Wow, this really seems like a human being wrote this.” This was great to hear because I had made a concerted effort to write the Editor’s Intro in a personal way, an interesting way. I didn’t want it to read like an academic textbook; I wanted it to feel like a conversation between real people.
